Hugo Hectus
France
Hugo Hectus’ (*1997) deconstructs communication to forge an autonomous, subjective essence—a new sensitive language. His practice navigates the obscure ties between art and literature, articulated as ‘Solid poetry,’ where his sculptures evoke an ideal language of desire, haunted by cultural ghosts. His sculptures act as three-dimensional writings—Mottogories—embedding meaning within material form. Navigating the tension between archive and memory, they question writing as both preservation and erasure, suspending language between presence and disappearance.
His work has lately been shown in group exhibitions such as: Exhibition 01 at Fondazione Sozzani, Paris (FR), The poster show at Sentiment, Zurich, CH (2025); Care package at Tunnel Tunnel, Lausanne, CH (2023); Sorry for my late reply at Krone Couronne, Biel, CH (2022); Glitching code at One gee in fog, Geneva, CH (2022).
